Olive Oil Market Situation (January 2025)
The Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Food Information and Control Agency, has released the olive oil market data for the month of January.
During this month, there was significant activity with shipments exceeding 116,150 tons, which will be augmented by an additional 15,000 to 20,000 tons from imports. These numbers have exceeded initial forecasts.
At the same time, there's an upswing in activity from major distributors, who are looking to meet a growing interest in the market, spurred by attractive prices and recent promotions.
Regarding production, the report from AICA is definitive. In January, production reached 341,490 tons.
The cumulative production has hit 1,234,568 tons, suggesting that the final tally for the season might surpass the initial estimates by the department.
As for stock levels, the data shows an increase in the volumes available to packers (176,295 tons), which will allow them to manage their reserves better in the coming months. This indicates that demand is expected to remain steady.
