Status of the Spanish Olive Oil Market (February 2025)

The Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Food Information and Control Agency (AICA), has recently published provisional data for the month of February:

  • Olive oil marketings in February: 127,987 tons (including 18,000 tons of imports)
  • February production: 150,769 tons
  • Cumulative production through February: 1,391,019 tons
  • Stocks in mills: 884,020 tons
  • Stocks in packers: 200,062 tons
  • Stocks in the Private Storage: 16,031 tons
  • Total stocks: 1,100,112 tons

In February, there was a cumulative production of 1.39 million tons. Considering the remaining production for March, it is expected that the total will approach the forecast of 1.45 million tons. This outcome is very positive and indicates a successful production season.

Currently, we are in a period of some climatic instability, with over two weeks of rainfall across the Andalusian region and forecasts suggesting the arrival of more rainy systems. This could benefit the upcoming olive oil campaign, although we cannot overlook the typical alternate bearing of olive trees.

Regarding distribution, February maintained a significant volume, driven by improvements in origin prices and the volume of exports. Commercial transactions reached about 127,987 tons, adding 18,000 tons of imported olive oil under the Preferential Tariff Rate (PTR) regime.
