Status of the Spanish Olive Oil Market (March 2025)
The Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Food Information and Control Agency (AICA), has recently published provisional data for the month of March:
- Oil exports in March: 119,019 tons (excluding imports ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 tons)
- March production: 13,146 tons
- Year-to-date production through March: 1,406,913 tons
- Stocks in mills: 773,597 tons
- Stocks with packagers: 210,900 tons
- Stocks at the PCO: 11.970 tons
- Total Stocks : 996.467 tons
During the third month of 2025, there were exports totaling 119,019 tons, not including imports (between 15,000 and 20,000 tons), which are similar to previous months. This consistent level of exports contributes to market stability, creating a more predictable environment for price setting.
Furthermore, a notable aspect of the current season is that total production has already surpassed the 1.4 million ton threshold. At this point in the year, it can be confirmed that this number represents the final production volume.
Within this context of robust production, it is reasonable to observe that by the end of March, olive oil producers had 773,597 tons in reserve. On the other hand, packaging industries have adopted a conservative strategy, holding onto 210,900 tons in inventory, carefully monitoring any changes in the prices set by producers.
